This church has long been established in Didcot and has always been situated in Manor Crescent.
English Martyrs church is the largest church (building size) in Didcot. Prior to its construction which incidentally was as late as the early 1970s the original church was a mere one eighth of its present size. Visually it had resembled a temporary wooden construction built off the ground and was situated in the far corner of the existing grounds. The funding and devotion to build this church came mainly from donations from the Irish community who settled in Didcot. This was the era the notorious six tower power station was being constructed in Didcot.
The congregation of English Martyrs presently are proportional in age groups but we are seeing a lot more young families as the town grows. More information is available on English Martyrs web site.
